Review by hotel critic
During a recent two-night business trip, I had the pleasure of staying at the Sedlescombe Golf Hotel, nestled in the picturesque East Sussex countryside. As an archaeologist, I often find myself in regions steeped in history, but this was a refreshing change of scenery, immersing me in an entirely different realm of leisure. The golf course's challenging layout, notably the tough stretch of par 4s, truly tested my skill while providing an idyllic backdrop of mature oaks and serene waterways. After time spent perfecting my swing, I retreated to my spacious room, a charming escape complete with sumptuous beds and rustic reclaimed furniture. The complimentary toiletries—especially the lovely White Company selection—added a touch of luxury, enhancing an already comfortable stay. The staff were wonderfully attentive, enriching the experience with warm hospitality that made each moment feel special. I also appreciated the generous breakfast served in the clubhouse, perfect fuel for both a day on the greens and further explorations of the surrounding area. Though I was there alone, I could easily see how this hotel would cater to groups or families seeking a delightful getaway. All in all, Sedlescombe Golf Hotel is a superb spot not just for golfers, but for anyone looking to unwind in a tranquil setting while enjoying first-rate amenities. I highly recommend it for both recreational enthusiasts and those simply wanting a peaceful retreat.
